Outback MATE Remote Monitor and Control
Manufacturer Part Number: MATE
Outback MATE Remote Monitor and Control is compatible for older style FX inverters. It is NOT compatible with OutBack Radian, FXR or VFXR inverters. Mate 3 would be used for these newer inverters.
The MATE system display and controllers are complete management tools for your OutBack Power system. Through the use of a single MATE you can remotely manage and monitor multiple inverter/chargers, MX60s and any future OutBack power conversion and control products.

Detailed Description
The MATE and MATE2 are packed full of features to make system management simple. The easy-to-read 3.1" (8 cm) LCD is backlit for dark operating conditions. Four soft keys allow easy context-based navigation of menus and functions. Two hot keys give immediate access to AC and inverter functions.
A built-in clock and calendar function enables timer based programming of inverter and charger operation. This permits you to set the system to work with time-of-day power rates or to limit a generator’s run time to a specific time period of the day or week. All of your settings are stored in permanent memory to eliminate the need to reprogram in the event of a system shutdown or battery replacement. The MATE and MATE2 include a RS232 port with DB9 jack for connection to the serial port of a PC computer. Through the use of optional WinVerter software you can perform such operations as data logging and graphical display of the system’s operation and performance.
More on the MATE...
The OutBack MATE is a complete system controller and display for both the OutBack FX2000 inverter/charger and MX60 MPPT PV charge controller. It provides a display of the operation as well as allows control and adjustment of the setpoints. The OutBack Mate also coordinates the operation of the entire system to maximize performance and to prevent multiple products from conflicting.
The OutBack Power Systems MATE serves several functions:
- Displays and configures the system and its components—the FX Series Inverter/Charger, the FLEXmax 80 Charge Controller, and the FLEXnet DC
- Coordinates system operation, maximizes performance, and prevents multiple products from conflicting
- Permits exact adjustments of your power system through a series of convenient display screens, which allow switching among different components, viewing the status of each and changing settings
When connected to an OutBack HUB communications manager, a single OutBack MATE can:
- Link to as many as ten FX Series Inverters/Chargers, OutBack Charge Controllers and additional future OutBack Power System products
- Issue a global Bulk or EQ recharging command which includes the Charge Controller’s charging function.
A single OutBack MATE is able to connect to multiple FX2000 inverter/charges, MX60 MPPT PV charge controllers and any other OutBack power conversion and control products offered in the future. A maximum of ten OutBack products will be able to be connected to a single MATE via CAT 5 / ethernet type cabling with 8 wire RJ45 modular connectors and the OutBack HUB communication manager.
The OutBack MATE includes a 4 line backlit LCD display with 80 alphanumeric characters. This allows multiple measurements to be displayed at the same time and reduces the amount of abbreviations required, simplifying the operation and reducing confusion. All of the programmed setpoints are stored in permanent memory to eliminate the need to reprogram the system after a shutdown or battery replacement.
The OutBack MATE also includes a built-in real-time clock and calendar which allows programming of the inverter operation based on the time of day and even day of the week. This can be used to allow the system to work with time-of-day power rates or to limit a generator's run time to a specific period of the day or week.
The OutBack MATE also includes an opto-isolated RS232 port with a DB9 jack for connection to the serial port of a PC computer.
