Detailed Description

Enphase's simple innovation is to place a single inverter on each solar panel instead of using a single, massive inverter for an entire array. Improved overall efficiency is just one of the host of benefits of per-panel solutions like these "micro inverters": they also significantly reduce the impact of shading issues and are budget-friendly, allowing a system to be built literally a panel at a time.

The M215 is the latest in Enphase's line of micro inverters. Smaller and more efficient than its predecessors, the M215 reduces overall cost by shifting some of its burden towards the specially designed "Engage" cabling system. This product works with 60-cell solar modules only.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How many drops of Engage cable do I need?

Each drop has a special M215 connector right in the middle, so you will need one drop for each M215 in your array. Be sure to add an extra drop for each row after the first to allow the cable reach up to the next row. Also note that you can have a maximum of 17 240VAC or 25 208VAC M215s on one string. If you need any help sizing your Enphase solar system, please give us a call at 888-899-3509 ext. 1.

  • How are the Engage cable drops cut?

Drops are cut at the halfway point between two connectors, allowing about 20" of cable between the last connector and the end of the cable for portrait layout and 33.5" for landscape layout.

  • Do I need 208 or 240 VAC Engage cable?

208 VAC is usually for commercial projects, while 240 VAC is for residential.

  • Which M215 do I need?

The difference between the two M215s EcoDirect offers is in their connectors, so your choice depends on whether your panels have an MC4, Tyco, or SMK connector. We also offer an Ontario FIT M215 for those in Ontario, Canada.

Reviewer: Adam Chance from Doral FL
I bought these as part of a DIY project for going solar at my house. My son and a friend helped install 9 Enphase inverters with 230 watt panels up over the weekend. Fun project, went smoother than expected.

5 of 5 Looks good July 5, 2011
Reviewer: Yves Grignon from Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico
Tough to rate because it has not been installed and commissioned yet.  But it looks and feels good.  Heavy with quality connectors.
