Detailed Description

The OutBack Power Radian Series GS8048A-01 grid-interactive inverter adds new grid support functionality which can prevent loss of power generation due to grid disturbances with voltage and frequency ride through.

UL 1741 SA: Standard for Safety—inverters, converters, controller and interconnection systems equipment for use with distributed energy resources. Grid support or “smart inverter” functionality will be required by Hawaii and California beginning September 8, 2017. UL 1741 SA is the new safety standard certifying products which meet the rigorous requirements needed to ensure safe and reliable operation in support of grid modernization efforts.

All Hybrid Inverter PV Systems will need rapid shutdown. The IMO BG10P34-11 remote shutdown button is an outdoor initiation switch that can be used to trigger PV system rapid shutdown.

IEEE 1547-2018 requires the local communications interface to remain available whenever the DER is operating. This indirectly creates a requirement for the IQ Gateway not to reboot during and following a low voltage ride through event. The IQ Gateway hardware was redesigned to meet this requirement so installers must only choose from the list of supported hardware and be running software versions 7.3.460 or later to be fully compliant.
