Hyundai Heavy Industries

Founded in 1972, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) originally built ships in Ulsan, Korea. After becoming the top shipbuilder worldwide, HHI broadened its business segments and, through these successful expansions, has become one of the largest heavy industries companies in the world.

The Electro Electric System Division (EES) was established in 1977, and since then has continued to introduce high technology products into the worldwide market.

It was in 2005 that the EED began to enter the solar energy marketplace. Today, their production capacity is up to 270MW per year with plans to manufacture their own ingots and wafers to allow for vertical integration.
