Certain items on require to be shipped freight. This is a process where your products are placed on a wooden pallet (or "palletized") and then sent to your home by truck. Freight shipping can be very expensive (shipping a single deep cycle battery) or considerably more cost-effective than regular shipping (shipping one-hundred deep cycle batteries).

Which products must ship freight?

Anything that has to be palletized (such as batteries, which are considered hazardous material), and anything that weighs over 100 pounds. This includes (but is not limited to):

  • Solar Panels
  • Deep Cycle Batteries
  • Large Inverters (> 1kW)
  • Rails Longer than 9 Feet (108")

Why does EcoDirect offer different options for freight?

The cost of a freight shipment depends on two factors:

  • Are you shipping to a business or a residence?
  • Do you need a lift gate?

Freight Shipping

Destination Matters

If your freight shipment is going to your private residence, the cost will be greater than if you were to ship freight to your business. Because businesses are more accessible and tend to be on established routes already, shipping to them is cheaper.

Lift Gates

If your product is shipping freight because it weighs more than 100 pounds, you may have to pay a fee for a lift gate. This is a platform off the back of a truck that lowers to the ground so heavy pallets can be wheeled away easily. If you have access to a fork lift or loading dock at your business or residence, a lift gate is not necessary and you will not need to pay the extra fee for a lift gate.

This leaves four options for your freight shipment from EcoDirect:

  • Freight Shipment Business
  • Freight Shipment Business with Lift Gate
  • Freight Shipment Residence
  • Freight Shipment Residence with Lift Gate
